Last week I delivered the message at my church. It was part of the This is my Story. This is my Psalm. sermon series. It was a privilege and an honor to get to speak about faith and adoption in my home church.
I was also thrilled to have my friends, Jasmine and Becca, there to encourage me. They are giants of faith and have helped me heal in many ways. Before them I thought I was a really terrible friend. They've shown me so much truth about friendship, and I hope someday it will be the topic of a book.
If you want to hear my story and my psalm, you can listen here. Just select the link under my name. I claim Psalm 150 -- the last chapter in the book-- as my Psalm. It is a Psalm of pure praise and has the verse: Let everything that has breath praise His name. I tell the stories of our adoptions -- Sam from birth; Hannah and Stephanie from kindergarten and a preschool for children ages 2, 3, and 4 with anger issues; and Jordan, a child I didn't even know we had until we were told to go find him.
Also, this was delivered without notes. God wanted me to trust Him completely with the words. He is a good Good.

What a beautiful message! I love the Psalms. You made me wonder about which Psalm is mine? I LOVE this message!! Thank you so much for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the link to your Psalm, Ruth...off to listen to it now!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for your friends, Ruth, and that the encouragement meant you shared your Psalm.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a Psalm that's yours. I wonder about what mine should be...I will find time to listen to your message. It's beautiful that you trusted in the Lord to help you deliver the right words without notes. Our priest does this for his homilies. He delivers without notes. That is an amazing gift from God. It really is. Thank you for your weekly celebration and inspiration...
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your story. God is specific. Power in praise. I love you Jesus. Thank you for sharing how you learned to celebrate. And God's sense of humor. Wow.
ReplyDeleteLoved listening to your story and your psalm (squeezed into Saturday morning errands in the car). I've loved the Psalms for so many years. And you delivered this entire address with no notes!?! I'm so impressed, but what impressed me the most is the way you decided to make time for God's word in your life EVERY day! I'm not sure why this is so difficult, but it is. Thanks, friend, for reminding me of its importance as we seek to walk in faith the path that is uniquely ours. And thanks for our space to celebrate every week.
ReplyDeleteThe Psalm is your song and story and an inspirational message for all of us. The spirit was upon you as your spoke in your church and I felt your message fill my heart. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI love that you got to share your story this way. I hope it inspires others to think what theirs is.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing to be able to share your story! I love that Psalm.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your story, Ruth. I love how you spoke as the Holy Spirit prompted you in your message at your church. Your faith in Jesus to provide and guide for your family inspires me to also look to our Lord for what's ahead. As you spent time in the Word, clarity came to you. Again, thank you for testifying about how you have learned God's character through your journey with your children.
ReplyDeleteAll the time! Way to continue to live and share the journey He has put you on. Blessings!
